Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the United States only — all 50 states. We do not ship internationally at this time.
How much is shipping?
Standard shipping is $4.95. Orders of $45 or more ship free.
How long will my order take?
Every item is made to order. Production usually takes 2–5 business days, and delivery takes about 3–7 business days after that. You will receive a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships. Orders with several items may be printed in different facilities and arrive separately.
Which states do you make Backyard Birds mugs for?
All 50 states, from Alabama to Wyoming — Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada and New Mexico were the last five added. See all state mugs.
Are the birds on the mug actually from my state?
Yes. Each design shows backyard birds you can realistically see at a feeder in that state, checked against Project FeederWatch data from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and every bird is labeled with its name. We deliberately leave off state birds that are not feeder birds — you will not see a Ruffed Grouse or a Common Loon at your feeder, so they are not on the mug.
What size are the mugs?
11 oz. White ceramic with a glossy finish, dishwasher and microwave safe, lead- and BPA-free.
Do the prints come framed?
No — prints ship unframed, in standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame fits.
Can I personalize my order?
Not yet. The personalized pieces we are working on — a named life list journal and a Bird Café doormat with your family name — are not in the shop yet. Email us at hello@thebirdporch.com and we will tell you when they go up.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Because items are printed to order, please email us within 12 hours of ordering at hello@thebirdporch.com. After production starts we cannot make changes.
What if my item arrives damaged or wrong?
Send us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we will send a free replacement or a refund — your choice. You do not need to return the item.
Do you accept returns?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery for unused items. Email us first and we will send you the return address and instructions — the details are in our returns and refunds policy. Everything is printed to order, so please check the size and the state before you order.
Who makes your designs?
Our designs are created in-house, digitally, for The Bird Porch. We build each bird around the field marks that tell one species from another, and every bird on a state mug is labeled by name. Printing is done to order by our production partners in the USA.

Can you help me identify a bird?
We built a small tool for exactly that: three questions and it narrows your bird down to the backyard regulars it could be. For a confirmed identification we recommend the free Merlin Bird ID app from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
