Higher up, the Black-capped Chickadee gives way to the Mountain Chickadee, which wears a white eyebrow stripe straight through the black cap.

The House Finch is a western native — every House Finch in the eastern states descends from birds released on Long Island in the 1940s. The American Robin owns the irrigated lawn.
